IACAD issued 20,757 Fatwa, during the first half of this year

General Manager
Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, in Dubai, issued 20,757 Fatwa, during the first half of 2010. Dr. Hamad Bin Al-Sheikh Ahmad Al-Shaibani, Director-General of the Department, confirmed that Dubai has to meet the needs of the community, of social and religious services of high quality. He explained that the Department always strives to play a leading role and duties assigned to it in educating the community, religiously and socially, to the fullest in order to disseminate information of the true religion derived from the Holy Quraan and the pure Sunnah.
It also works on the call to the Almighty Allah, by the approach of wisdom and beautiful preaching, using a moderate method to achieve this goal. The Director-General added that the Department receives hundreds of questions a day, from the public, on various issues and news encountered in their daily lives, whether at the legal, social or domestic, economic and commercial as well as personal issues and transactions matters.
Dr. Ahmad Abdul-Aziz Al-Haddad, Director of Iftaa' Department, said that the Department responds to questions received, in various languages: Arabic, English, Farsi, French and Urdu, by professional Muftis qualified in the Four Schools of Jurisprudence.
The Department is considered to be the main and formal reference for advisory opinion, internally and externally, due to its credibility, transparency, and efficiency of scientific-based jurisprudence of the four Imams, and the full understanding of the reality of people's daily lives. He explained that the Department uses the latest technical aspects to respond to inquiries and questions from the public, either through email or telephone, as well as by coming directly to the Department.
According to Saleh Zayed, Acting Chief of Documentation and Archiving: "Legal Fatawa and religious questions, received by the Department, are of various classifications of Fiqh (Islamic Doctrine), and have been documented and archived, and then included in the analytical reports of statistics, to extract which are determined to be the most asked questions of Fiqh.
Accordingly, they will be included in the Department's projects and activities of the various advisory boards, as well as of the Department's publications. In turn; educate, inform, and enlighten the public of their religion, as required, and to provide better services to the community."
