Agreeing on uniform rates for charitable associations, in Dubai

During the meeting
Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department –Charitable Associations Department, in Dubai, held a coordinated meeting, in its building, Mamzar area. The meeting was attended by officials from the Assemblies of Beit Al-Khair, Dubai Charity, and the Red Crescent; Dubai branch; to discuss unifying the rates of breaking the fast, Zakat Al-Fitr, Eid clothing, and the Adhahi (plural of Udheya: Sacrifice), inside and outside the Country.
This meeting came in the framework of coordination between the Department and all others relevant establishments to advance the process of charitable work and to elevate it to reach its purposes, in accordance with the stated objectives. Ali Khalfan Al-Mansouri, Director of Charitable Associations Department, said: "The aim of the meeting is to agree on standard rates for charitable establishments, in Dubai, for some seasonal projects.
This comes as one of the Department's roles in supporting the development of charity works and the relief of groups receiving charity, as well as to encourage donors to give, and to ensure the quality of services provided to all categories." He explained that the projects that were agreed to unify their rates are:
• Iftar (breaking the fast) rates: AED 15
• Zakat Al-Fitr: AED 20 • Sacrifice rate (within the Country): AED 400
• Sacrifice rate (outside the Country): AED 350
• Eid clothing: AED 25 (contributed) He added that the meeting also dealt with a number of issues related to the support and development of the sector of charitable activities, in Dubai.
