A delegation from Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department headed by Mr. Mohammed Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Mosques Affairs Sector, and Dr. Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Haddad, Director of Iftaa Department, participated in a seminar entitled “Urban View of Mosques in the UAE” at Jamal Bin Huwaireb Center for Studies.
Kamel Yusuf, the researcher and translator, spoke about the “Encyclopedia of the UAE Mosques”, in the presence of a group of officials, intellectuals and interested people, led by Jamal bin Huwairib, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation.
Abdullah Al-Mutairi, the poet, Dr. Shehab Ghanem, businessman, Salim al-Mousa, and Mohammed Darraji, the Algerian consul general in Dubai attended the seminar.
Kamel Youssef pointed out that mosques are one of the most important pillars of the history of the UAE, and represent the memory of the region, stressing the need for concerned authorities and researchers to document the mosques of the UAE, which may number more than 7 thousand historical and urban mosques.
