Emirates Islamic Contributes AED 10 Million to the ‘Social Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19’

Emirates Islamic Contributes AED 10 Mill

Emirates Islamic, under the umbrella of Emirates NBD Group, contributed AED 10 million (from the Charity Fund) to support the ‘Social Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19’ initiative, launched by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai. The fund aims to mitigate the health, economic and social challenges posed by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Emirates Islamic is the first Dubai financial institution to offer financial support to the Fund. The private sector and community members are encouraged to contribute to the Fund which will provide support and care to disadvantaged members of our society.

Commenting on this contribution, Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates NBD Group, Chairman of Emirates Islamic said: “We are pleased to make this contribution in favour of the Social Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19 in line with our values and responsibilities towards our community and reflects the principles of social unity and cooperation between individuals, the government and the business sector. These unified national efforts aim to provide medical and economic assistance to the most needy members of our community during this challenging time."

The launch of the ‘Social Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19’ initiative by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department comes as part of its commitment to the guidance and directions of our righteous and inspired leadership to support humanitarian deeds through effective partnerships between government authorities and charitable institutions, while ensuring that all humanitarian and charitable projects supported by the Department are sustainable.
