A donor has covered the cost of AED6,078 for the treatment of patient "Kalthoum," who suffers from gastroesophageal reflux and requires special injections and medications. The transfer of this amount to the patient's account at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi was coordinated between the donor and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai through the Emirates Today hotline.
The young patient, Kalthoum (32 years old), expressed her deep happiness and gratitude to the donor for their support, stating that the donation greatly delighted her and helped her overcome her suffering. "Emirates Today" published Kalthoum’s story last Friday, detailing her struggle with the illness. She mentioned that she began experiencing shortness of breath, nausea, and food reflux during her pregnancy, which led to frequent hospital visits. By the end of the sixth month of her pregnancy, the pain intensified, necessitating an emergency visit to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital.
After conducting tests and analyses, the doctors confirmed the health of the fetus and advised Kalthoum to change her eating and drinking habits, avoiding fats, spices, and caffeinated beverages, while strictly adhering to her medication and injection schedules.
Kalthoum added that her husband, the sole provider for the family, has faced difficulties since losing his job in January. Despite his best efforts to find new employment, he has been unsuccessful. Due to their challenging financial situation, he was unable to afford her treatment costs.
