A generous donor has paid AED 19,000 to cover the treatment costs of a 60-year-old Gulf national, known as Abu Ahmed, who suffers from a platelet deficiency disorder. The patient urgently needed to renew his health insurance card in order to access necessary medications and medical care, as well as continue regular hospital checkups.
The patient expressed his deep gratitude and happiness toward the donor, praising the kind gesture and noting that such acts of generosity are not unusual among the people of the UAE, who are known for their compassion and charitable spirit.
The donation was coordinated through the "Hotline" in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, to ensure the funds were transferred to the relevant medical authority.
Previously, the patient shared his story with Emarat Al Youm, stating that he had worked for a company with a monthly salary of AED 14,000. During his employment, he was able to manage his health condition and afford the necessary treatments for the platelet deficiency he has been battling for over 20 years. He consistently adhered to his treatment schedule until the company terminated his services in 2023 following his job loss, he was unable to renew his health insurance, which prevented him from continuing treatment and led to a decline in his health.
He added that he currently relies on financial support from family and relatives to afford part of the medication costs. In February, his condition worsened, and he began experiencing new symptoms such as bleeding from the gums, teeth, nose, as well as during urination and defecation. He also developed dark blue patches on his skin and suffered from extreme fatigue.
He visited the emergency department at Tawam Hospital, where he underwent various tests and spent 10 days receiving medical care and treatment. His attending physician emphasized the importance of taking his medication on time and maintaining regular hospital visits to monitor his condition.
