Donor Pays AED 39,000 for Child Ayham’s Treatment in Coordination with IACAD and "Hotline"

Donor Pays AED 39,000 for Child Ayham’s Treatment in Coordination with IACAD and "Hotline"

A generous donor has contributed AED 39,000 to cover the medical expenses of Ayham, a five-year-old Sudanese child who suffers from a perforation in his esophagus after swallowing a small round battery. His father was unable to afford the treatment due to difficult financial circumstances.

The donation was coordinated by the "Hotline" in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, and the amount was transferred to the patient’s account at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi.

The child’s father expressed his overwhelming happiness with the donation, stating that it relieved a great burden from the family and renewed their hope for their son’s recovery. He praised the humanitarian spirit of the Emirati people and their constant support for those in need.

Emarat Al Youm had previously published Ayham’s story on the 12th of this month. The child had been playing at home when he accidentally swallowed a small battery, leading to severe abdominal pain. His mother immediately took him to the emergency department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, where medical examinations revealed a perforation in his esophagus.

According to the father, Ayham underwent five surgeries to repair the damage and remains under medical observation in the hospital. He added that the attending doctor stated Ayham would require three more months of treatment at a cost of AED 39,000 — an amount beyond his means, as he works in a private company earning AED 3,750 per month, which barely covers their daily living expenses.
