In a swift humanitarian response, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has coordinated with the Hotline and the Patient Support Fund at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi to secure full treatment coverage for Amal, a 61-year-old Syrian patient suffering from melanoma—an aggressive and rapidly spreading type of skin cancer.
Thanks to a generous donor, AED 240,000 has been paid in full to cover the costs of Amal’s urgent surgery and seven sessions of radiotherapy. Amal expressed her overwhelming joy and deep gratitude to the donor, praising the spirit of compassion and solidarity that characterizes the people and institutions of the UAE—especially the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai.
Speaking to Emarat Al Youm, Amal confirmed she will begin her treatment tomorrow at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. The donation was transferred directly to the hospital, following coordinated efforts between the Islamic Affairs department and other relevant parties.
Earlier, the newspaper had published her story, highlighting her inability to afford the necessary treatment due to limited financial resources. Her family relies solely on her son’s monthly salary of AED 7,000, most of which is spent on the annual AED 35,000 rent for their home.
Amal concluded by once again thanking the kind-hearted donor for restoring her hope and commending the swift intervention of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, whose efforts paved the way for her life-saving treatment journey.
