“Imam Al-Freej” Returns for Its Second Season – An Initiative by IACAD to Instill Values in Youth as Part of the Year of the Community 2025

“Imam Al-Freej” Returns for Its Second Season – An Initiative by IACAD to Instill Values in Youth as Part of the Year of the Community 2025

As part of its strategy to be closer to the community, and in conjunction with the “Year of the Community 2025,” the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has launched the second edition of its initiative, “Imam Al-Freej.” This initiative targets Emirati children and youth between the ages of 11 and 16 in neighborhoods and residential areas across Dubai. It will run from July 1 to August 8, 2025, in several approved mosques equipped to host participants in a safe and motivating educational environment.

The initiative aims to instill Islamic values in the hearts of the younger generation by connecting them with mosques and reinforcing their role as centers of education and faith. It features a comprehensive educational program that combines knowledge and practice, designed to nurture a generation characterized by awareness, discipline, and upright behavior.

The program includes Quran memorization sessions with Tajweed, practical training on how to perform ablution and prayer, as well as lessons in Islamic manners, virtues, and daily supplications. This contributes to strengthening religious identity and reinforcing Islamic conduct in the participants’ daily lives.

Dr. Abdullah Abduljabbar, Acting Director of the Maktoum Centers for Quran Memorization and Sciences and the official in charge of the initiative, confirmed that “the second edition of Imam Al-Freej comes after the remarkable success of the first edition, which received wide community acclaim and had a tangible educational impact on the behavior of participants.” He added, “The initiative reflects IACAD’s commitment to nurturing youth within their local environments through specialized programs that combine memorization, training, and awareness, while promoting the concept of the mosque as a hub for moral and social guidance.”

Abduljabbar emphasized that “Imam Al-Freej” is not just a summer activity, but an extension of IACAD’s vision to raise generations who carry the light of knowledge, understand their religious and national responsibilities, and contribute to serving their society with deep awareness and sincere faith. He also called on parents to register their children and take advantage of this valuable educational opportunity. Registration is open from the date of announcement until June 20, 2025, through the dedicated online link, where the list of participating mosques can also be viewed via IACAD’s official website.

Through this initiative, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department reaffirms its ongoing commitment to building strong ties with all segments of society—particularly youth—through educational and developmental programs that raise religious awareness and strengthen national identity, in alignment with its institutional vision and active role in promoting Islamic values in future generations
