The “Gheras Summer 2025” program, launched by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai, has seen widespread community engagement, with more than 1,700 participants of various age groups registered so far. This strong turnout reflects growing public trust in the department’s educational and awareness initiatives, as well as its pivotal role in instilling values and shaping a generation rooted in its identity and equipped to face future challenges.
“Gheras Summer” is considered one of the department’s distinguished annual initiatives, implemented as part of its strategic plans to strengthen community engagement through innovative programs that meet the aspirations of families. It aims to prepare generations with strong religious awareness, national identity, and essential leadership and life skills.
In this context, Sheikha Sultan Al Marri, Director of the Islamic Knowledge Programs Department, emphasized that the program represents a comprehensive model of educational and knowledge-based work, embodying the department’s vision for human development. She noted that the large participation reflects the community’s confidence in the program’s quality and content.
Al Marri added: “We are committed to providing a safe and engaging learning environment that combines education and entertainment, offering participants opportunities to acquire skills and foster a spirit of initiative. This aligns with the objectives of the 2025 Year of Community and the leadership’s vision to empower youth both intellectually and behaviorally.”
“Gheras Summer” offers an interactive and educational space that nurtures creative thinking and promotes positive values and behavior among girls, within a balanced educational framework that meets parents’ expectations and reinforces the principles on which Emirati society is founded.
The program is scheduled to run in two phases during July and August 2025 and offers a holistic educational experience built around five key pillars: the Holy Qur’an, traditional etiquette (Sana’a), skills, leadership, and innovation. It aims to equip a generation of confident, identity-conscious girls prepared to shape a brighter future. The program is hosted at several centers, including Umm Al Sheif Islamic Cultural Center, Al Mizhar Islamic Cultural Center, Nad Al Sheba Women’s Center, the Maktoum Centers for Qur’an and its Sciences (Nad Al Sheba and Al Warqaa branches), and the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Islamic Culture in Hatta.
