Donors Cover Abdulrahman's AED 39,000 Treatment in Coordination with IACAD and the Hotline

Donors Cover Abdulrahman's AED 39,000 Treatment in Coordination with IACAD and the Hotline

A number of donors have covered the cost of the surgery needed by 13-year-old Abdulrahman, amounting to AED 39,000, to treat complications from a traffic accident in which he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle. The accident resulted in a metal object piercing his intestines.

Coordination was made between the donors and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai via the "hotline," through which the donation amount was directly transferred to the hospital treating the child.

Abdulrahman’s father expressed his deep gratitude and happiness for this initiative, offering heartfelt thanks to the donors for their support during the difficult circumstances the family is going through. He said that receiving a call from the hotline staff informing him that generous individuals had taken care of his son's treatment costs brought great relief and joy to his entire family. He added, “I sincerely thank everyone who contributed to my son’s treatment, as he is in urgent need of the surgery.” He noted that such acts of generosity are not unusual in the UAE, where both individuals and institutions embody a spirit of solidarity and compassion, reflecting noble humanitarian values that are an essential part of the country’s identity.

Emarat Al Youm newspaper had previously published Abdulrahman's story on the 12th of this month. The child was run over last Ramadan while playing with his friends on his bicycle, resulting in a serious injury that caused a metal object to penetrate his intestines. According to the medical report issued by Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, the child was in urgent need of surgery due to the deterioration of his health. The family’s suffering was worsened by their inability to afford the cost of the treatment due to their dire financial situation.

The child’s father, known as "Abu Abdulrahman," had appealed to kind-hearted people for help in paying for the surgery, explaining that his son was injured while crossing an intersection near their home. He was hit by a car, which caused severe injuries, and he was rushed by ambulance to the emergency department at Sheikh Shakhbout Hospital, where he underwent an initial emergency surgery and remained under observation for a week. However, his condition requires a second surgery after Eid Al-Fitr.

The father explained that his son needs regular medical follow-ups, but their financial situation does not allow it. He mentioned that he is the sole provider for a family of 10, all of whom are in different stages of education, and he has no one to assist him after losing his business. He is now unable to meet even their basic needs, including rent, which forced them to move in with a relative.

He concluded by saying that Abdulrahman is currently unable to live a normal life, but he hopes that after the surgery, his son will be able to return to his daily life without obstacles.
