IACAD launches fatwa program “Yastaftonk” remotely during Ramadan

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai launched “Yastaftonk” a Fatwa program remotely through her social media platform during Ramadan. It comes in light of the exceptional circumstances during the holy month of Ramadan, according to the current situation.

Tariq al-Emadi, head of ifta section in IACAD, said, “The fatwa program is answering the most common questions in the holy month of Ramadan. In a simplified manner and provides access to jurisprudence scholars and their information on fasting issues and its provisions. This program is to enhance religious awareness through social media platform in less than a minute per episode.

The program deals with responding to a number of doctrinal issues including whether the intention is required before fasting? another question that says: Is it Sunnah to accelerate breaking the fasting in Ramadan? a group of muftis in IACAD answer these questions.

Al-Emadi stated that the Ifta in IACAD has restructured the shifts to be 4 shifts in Ramadan (800 600) to receive calls from 8 am until 8 pm in Arabic, English and Urdu. Also, the call forwarding mechanism has been changed to include all muftis rather than alternately answering.

In addition to distributing phones and data slides for muftis, the department will work with the maximum capacity to accelerate the mechanism for answering official fatwas in coordination with the Senior Scholars Association and not to link them with periodic meetings.

Al-Emadi added that the (Status) feature has been activated to publish fatwas in WhatsApp on the number (8003336).

You can listen to the episodes of the program through IACAD’s Instagram @iacaddubai.
